How to Create Your Destiny by Writing Goals

writing goals

Can designing your life really be as simple as writing down what you want out of life? YES!

Once upon a time, there was a tech guy in his cubicle, dreaming of becoming a well-known cartoonist, so he decided to write 15 times a day “I will become a syndicated cartoonist.” Despite many rejections, he eventually signed a contract for his comic strip to be syndicated.

Realizing he wanted more, he decided to write “I will be the best cartoonist on the planet.” Dilbert is syndicated in 2,000 newspapers worldwide and the book the Dilbert Principle sold more than 2 million copies.

Then there was this waitress with her own set of dreams that didn’t include getting someone else coffee. She began writing “I am young, powerful, and successful, producing at least $10,000 per month. Suze Orman became a New York Times’ bestseller and a frequent guest on Oprah.

Writing goals down using pen and paper stimulate certain areas of your brain and help build new neural pathways. You reaffirm your goals each time you write them down.

Writing your goals induce clarity and new insights which fill in gaps and help you zero in on what you want. For example, if you started out writing “I am living in a lovely home” pretty soon it would turn into “I am living in a lovely colonial home with 6 bedrooms and 3 baths, etc., etc.

Writing goals or affirmations down activate the reticular activating system. The RAS opens your awareness to opportunities related to your goal that would benefit you on your path. All of a sudden, an ad that you’ve seen many times about becoming new homeowners jumps out at you. And oh yeah, your best friend’s, cousin’s neighbor is a great real estate agent. Hmmm, maybe you should call him!

Writing down your goals prevents them from meeting the same fate as New Year’s resolutions, if you even bother with them anymore. Are you looking for a pen and paper yet?

What You Need to Know about Writing Goals or Affirmations:

This isn’t a quickie. Be prepared to dedicate a year or two to keeping a goals ledger. It could take less time, but it depends on the audaciousness of the goal, and your limiting beliefs. Write your goals or affirmations as well as your victories toward bringing them to fruition.

I know what you’re thinking.  Can you really afford to spend a year or two writing goals or affirmations? Are you in the same position you were last year regarding the lack of progress toward your goals? Then yes, you can afford to spare a year to gain a whole new life.

Happy Manifesting,
