How to Accomplish a Goal in 24 Hours

Do you find yourself dragging your feet to accomplish a specific goal? I have a tip for you that will train your mind to become relentless in goal achieving. It kicks up your tenacity a few notches, and the best part it is, it’s super simple. So simple you probably do it without realizing it.

 

Look at your main goal and choose one significant action to complete in the span of 24 hours, a 24-hour goal. 24 hours is the perfect time span because this gives you a good chunk of time to get a substantial amount of work done, yet it doesn’t allow too much time to sit around procrastinating. It creates a sense of urgency. Think of it as interval training for your goals or a 24-hour boot camp for jump starting your goals.

 

You are already employing this technique in your life if you think about it. Any time you procrastinate on something with a deadline, you are thrust into action the final 24 hours before the deadline. If you are writing a paper, writer’s block seems to dissolve into a newfound mental flow. All your best ideas for your business project come pouring out suddenly the last few hours before the deadline.

 

The trick is to pick something significant that can be accomplished in 24 hours, or something you are procrastinating on that can be done in 24 hours. When you procrastinate, you are allowing stress to cause you to stall and in some cases come to a standstill. With a 24 hour goal, you are repurposing this stress and using it to propel you to action.

 

Be sure to make this goal your priority for the next 24 hours. Don’t make it a part of your daily to-do list; you will get distracted by the other tasks on your list. Your goal should be your main focus so temporarily suspend tasks that aren’t necessary for that day or don’t require your immediate attention.

 

Whenever I feel like I’m not making the progress I want on a specific goal, a 24-hour goal revs things up and gets me motivated. Accomplishing 24-hour goals are also a good way to create the small victories that create the belief that you are capable of being successful.

 

Your brain likes proof that it can achieve a goal. When you achieve a 24-hour goal, you are spoon feeding success pudding to your brain. This will train you to accomplish your larger goals with motivation and tenacity while creating a mindset of success.
